History of Red Deer County Real Estate

- 1899 - The origins of the town can be traced to Alexander Loiselle and his son Louis who traveled from Michigan to what was then called Snake Lake.
- 1902-03 - The town began to develop. The name of the lake was also changed from Snake to Sylvan Lake. Homes for sale were sold to some of the original settlers of the area.
- 1910 - A rail link was established with Rocky Mountain House
- 1940s-50s - The town became a popular vacation destination for people from Edmonton and Calgary.
