Life on the Lake

Sylvan Lake is one of Alberta’s largest and most appealing lakes and not surprisingly, it’s the recreational heart of the town. Almost 15 km long, the lake is clean and clear – perfect for water-based sports of all kinds.

Anglers will find whitefish, pike walleye and perch in its waters. Swimmers, sunbathers and beach volleyball enthusiasts enjoy a full mile of sandy beach.

The town is also home to Alberta’s second biggest marina with a lakeview restaurant and the charming lighthouse – the only functioning lighthouse between the west coast and Manitoba.

Located on the lake’s shore and celebrated as the largest free-standing waterslide in the world, Wild Rapids Waterslide Park is a major draw.
